In 1981, Edward Colter and Jack Weston discover a black kitten in the bushes. A month later, Jack and the kitten are dead. When Edward sees an advertisement for a service promising to clone deceased pets, he makes a terrible and desperate choice. Now an adult, Edward tried to forget the monster he created... until he begins to hear Jack speaking to him in the middle of the night. Can Edward face his grief and finally be done with the past, or is history always doomed to repeat itself?
One of the fan favorite stories. Friendly Face utilized a mix of puppets and real cats to play Faraday, with the real cat actually being the pet of Edward's actor. The actors had the most creative control in this episode, as the producer was allergic to cats and avoided being on set as much as possible.
Monster
Faraday the cat, a botched genetic clone of the original. Abandoned as a kitten, he returns to Edward years later. Despite his looks, at no point during the episode does Faraday cause intentional harm. He is capable of simple human speech, and speaks with Jack's voice.
Protagonist
Edward Colter, a nervous and isolated man. The death of a childhood friend and the paranoia of Faraday's return has has led to a life of excessive caution. Reluctantly keeps Faraday the second time around out of guilt, but breaks at the end of the episode and runs out of the house to escape him, getting hit by a truck not long after.
